Les cassettes avec dérailleurs auront tendance à entraîner la chaîne par temps très froid ( en dessous de -15°C à -20°C ) à cause de la viscosité de la graisse. Pour éviter de dérailler la solution est de pédaler continuellement pour garder la chaîne sous tension. Les vélos à un seul pignon fixe (#fixie) ou roue libre et les moyeux internes (#igh) n'auront pas ce problème et devraient rarement dérailler si ils sont bien ajustés.

Here are photos of #InternalGearHub (IGH) -- there is no derailleur.

I just realized now that what I saw was the giant hub for the recumbent's electric pedal assist. That's why it was huge. My photo of the recumbent bike is too pixelated. Can't really see the details there anymore.

But the owner did say that it's #IGH with #PedalAssist.

Need more practice riding my li'l 16" #bike. Then one of the things that will need to be fixed/changed next is the front tire. Didn't notice at the time of purchase that the front tire is neither* Schraeder nor Presta. 🤦‍♀️

Anyone ever tried converting an old Japan surplus #bike with #IGH to an #ebike?

Not looking for fancy. Just need functional.

How simple/complicated is it? Please share resources. I haven't been successful in finding the answers I need.

Finally got to a bike shop that fixes #InternalGearHub. Had to travel to #Marikina.

Can't be done in a day. 🤷‍♀️ Had to leave it at the shop -- the mechanic's busy with other #bikes.

At least it's in good hands. Tim, the Yoda of #IGH, as I like to refer to him, comes very veeeeeery highly recommended. 👌 After meeting him and learning what may need to be done, I'm not so worried about my li'l #bike anymore.
