Another reason to #AppreciateMastodon: Apparently cheating involving the cast of “Vanderpump Rules” went viral. And I’m very happy I didn’t hear about it all over Mastodon. Weirdly enough, the first I heard of it was in a New York Times news round up. 🙄

We're surrounded by a crowd, who join in and wander in our Hashtag room with glass walls. We can see other rooms; sometimes we wave.
The Server building is covered in screens to talk with other rooms in other buildings in our... Mastodon Complex. They are free and easy to use or ignore.

Well, now that Musk has allowed the toupeed tangerine hellbeast back onto the #birdsite, I have countered this by deactivating my account. Buh-bye, adios and sayonara, #Twitter. May you rot in whatever existence befalls tech companies that fall under the control of megalomaniacs.

I know there will be a lot of people lamenting Musk's destruction of the bird site, but I'll be honest when I say that I never particularly warmed to twitter. The UI was clunky and horrible to use, and tweeting always felt a bit like shouting into a vast, empty void.

I joined Mastodon earlier this week and I'm amazed by how friendly everyone is on it, and how easy it is to use.

The bird site is dead - long live Mastodon!
