Mendel's greenhouse, destroyed by the tornado of 1870, has been rebuilt under our cross-border #INTERREG program. Today, the leading partner of the project -- the #MendelMuseum under #MasarykUniversity #MUNI -- will officially open the greenhouse to the public.

The crown jewel of the overall project is the reconstruction of #Mendel's greenhouse at his Abbey in #Brno, which will have a grand opening this weekend! #MendelGreenHouse

#INTERREG grants are an interesting way for scientists to work with partners in industry. They primarily fund projects that can lead to lasting cross-border collabs, esp in culture & infrastructure. Proposals are way lighter than normal research grants, but it's a notoriously admin-heavy process!

We are now finishing off an EU grant project Barbara Fischer & I (#EvoBio #UniVienna) won last year in collab with #MendelMuseum & Masaryk University #MUNI of #Brno for #GregorMendel's bicentennial birthday.

Our Austrian strategic partners: the #NHMWien immersive science center #Deck50 and the advanced research institute #KLIAustria, a place that fosters foundational #evobio #cogsci #sustainability research.
