An Icelandic news site warns that you should not go onto the lava from the new eruption even though the crust looks solid. Good advice. Don't do that. Take care. Fire from the earth is dangerous.

It goes on to say that underneath there is magma measured at 800 thousand degrees Celsius. The surface of the sun is said to be about 5500°. I imagine that the journalist got the information from someone who actually said 800-1000 degrees.
