Very #wip but here's a #screenshot of #Immich half-way working on #NixOS thanks https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/244803 by oddlama

Using the wonderful #Immich to self-host Google Photos-like photo library? Enable "Prefer remote images" in its settings for way, WAY faster browsing and opening as well as saving space on the client device. Once again accessing through the network is faster than from local storage.
I've been self-hosting my photos/videos library in my basement cloud with #Photoprism as an alternative to Google Photos which has been pretty good.
I've set up #Immich last night and let it import/index the library overnight.
It turns out Immich is absolutely fantastic and better than Photoprism for me.
Open source. Fuck yeah.
I seriously love #Immich but could they finally add proper SIGTERM handling? Each time the containers are updated, I have to wait 10s for the stop timeout. After that #docker resorts to SIGKILL signals for all immich services.

Came across #immich as a way of organising my 22,000 photo library (I do love a selfie). It took maybe half an hour to set up with docker and now has all those photos under It’s auspices. Uploading 6000 photos from the iOS app caused my phone to go into a thermal emergency only mode I’ve never seen before but it uploaded them in under an hour.
What I like most about it is that it stores the files as plain image files- no weird proprietary binary format- just files under a file structure organised by year and date- which is how I had them organised manually. If I decided to move to something else, no worries, take the directories and do my own thing.
Lots of features: ok face recognition, creepy map showing where photos were taken (including 415 off the coast of Nigeria- zero longitude and latitude), object recognition (a search for rabbit turned up a very colourful baboons butt) but who expects ml to be perfect?

The development of #immich is outstanding. Best selfhosting photo solution out there... this project does well deserve my money. :)
For 20+ years I have shoved all my digital images into a "pics" folder on a hard drive following various naming and sorting schemes resulting in a terrible mess. Yesterday, I finally installed #immich on my home server and did an "immich upload --recursive" and, voila, 15.322 pictures, 645 videos, neatly organised, including local face recognition, map, and a "1/5/6/... years since" feature. And it has an Android app which does the automatic uploading. Highly recommended! #selfhosting

#Immich finally added facial recognition! Now it just lacks GPU acceleration for all these processings.
Was fehlt:
-Fotoverwaltung (Bisher mit #Digikam - in Zukunft dann ggf. #Immich)
- "Vermögensverwaltung" (Bisher LibreOffice Calc - noch keine schmale Alternative gefunden. Nextcloud ist zu dick. )
#Immich #digikam #paperlessngx
Hab vermutlich endlich eine Lösung zur zentralen Verwaltung meiner #Fotos gefunden: #Immich (https://immich.app/)
- Backup sollte gut möglich sein
- Saubere Android App mit automatischem Upload
- ordentliches Webinterface
- nicht überladen, aber wohl alles was man braucht
- Alben teilen über einen Share Link
Also mehr oder weniger #PaperlessNGX für Fotos.
#immich is getting support for externally shared albums 🎉

I'm still kind of at the beginning of my journey, so I'll definitely be checking some of these out.
You might consider trying out #tailscale (with #headscale so you can skip needing SSO creds for the official service, also no worries about any for-pay-only features/limits). I've been very impressed with it so far.
Just last night I got #Immich and PhotoPrism running against my photos. Only have an initial impression at the moment, but I'm sad to say that I'm unimpressed with whatever models PhotoPrism uses - object categorization is... not great.
Immich is fun, but feels less polished/featureful (though it's still early days, so this isn't really a criticism). The Immich mobile app is very promising.
@asj It's great! Definitely worth a try to see how you get on with it :)
#Immich (https://immich.app) is really good too. Very much a Google-inspired UI and seems super fast.
You can now use the machine-learning / object detection feature of #Immich, even when your CPU does not support AVX! Check out https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/987
Many thanks to Bert Melis who compiled Tensorflow accordingly & provided the image. Should work on Intel Pentium J4105, J5040, J5005 and similar.

Found this awesome selfhoted google photos alternative called #immich (https://github.com/immich-app/immich). Looks as feature rich as Photoprism plus an open mobile app. Take a look if you've been looking for something similar.
