I've been seeing a lot of "#COVID is HIV" posts lately, and I wish people wouldn't do that.

There's lots of evidence that COVID causes #ImmuneDysfunction (check https://scholar.social/@HWiesenmueller@openbiblio.social/109691094625432524 for a good overview), but I don't think there's strong evidence *yet* of an AIDS-like effect, including the crazy opportunistic fungal infections.

Exaggerating what the data shows makes it easier for minimizers to dismiss anyone sounding the alarm as cranks, and hurts our case for prevention
