#TopicTuesday Long Read: Disability Inclusion within Brimbank.
My first question raided at this months council meeting was as follows:
“Brimbank's 2022-2026 Disability Action Plan was released around 4 months ago, yet there is no reference to Neurodivergent people (other than reference to a symbol identifier), let alone any planning to ensure their inclusion in our community. Neurodivergent people should not need to wait until 2026 before their barriers to inclusion in Brimbank events will be considered, so what action is Brimbank City Council taking, to ensure their inclusion is possible at council run events?”

@craigbro @jwz The issue of #LongCovid and immune deregulation (becoming #ImmuneCompromised) does also remain a concern as there is only a fairly weak correlation with severe disease.

I’m so sick and tired of always being afraid because no one will do anything to protect the #disabled and #immunecompromised from #covid. I’ve been completely isolated the entire pandemic - and I’ve got one caregiver left who still isolates prior to come seeing me. Ah good. I just discovered one of my nails has an indent in it and according to the internet this could be because of immune system issues.
Hopefully because it's on the end of my nail means that it was a temporary disruption to immune system regulation (from long/persistent covid) and now that I'm on truvada, not going to worsen.

I was at an oncology center yesterday and had an interesting experience. Very few staff in masks. No mask requirements for patients unless you had symptoms.

I found it odd. All other medical facilities I have been to recently required masks, I am guessing due to covud/flu/rsv being so prevalent in the community. But the oncology center didn't.

I kept mine on anyway.

So pissed off. Husband has been coughing, sniffing. He took a covid test this morning. Negative. An hour later it was showing positive. WTF? I made him test every hour on the hour, using tests from different kits. Every one showed negative after 20 minutes, 1 hour. Do I trust them? I’m sick to death of this fucking shit.

🧵 2/2 Because I'm HIV+, this is how we handle the COVID risk these days. Everyone arrives masked and takes a rapid antigen test. As soon as everyone's test comes back negative, then people can take the masks off.
We know it's not 100%, but it's something we can do to mitigate the risk somewhat and still be able to have guests.

Day 5 of the dreaded #Covid as an #ImmuneCompromised person with #AutoimmuneDisease .

I had an emergency #antiviral infusion on Saturday. Yesterday I felt absolutely full of gunk. I had no energy, was grumpy and as irritable as fk and got hardly any sleep due to very depressive thoughts I’ve not had in years. Today I feel a lot better and can see the light at the end of the tunnel already. My mood has lifted tremendously.

Hopefully this will help reassure others with my afflictions ❤️
