Video-Tipp: "Office-Templates mit InDesign gestalten", das war das Thema der 50.(!) IDUG Hamburg.

Sabine Hamann gibt einen umfassenden, praxisnahen Überblick und weist auch auf die Fallstricke bei der Umsetzung hin. Obwohl anfangs einige Punkte anhand von PowerPoint gezeigt werden, gelten diese ebenso für Word.

Anyone having some odd issues with #Adobe products, mainly #indesign, on at least the last two updates of macOS? I've been running into windows not fully coming to the front to be worked on. I can't tell if it's an OS problem or Adobe one but it does suck.

In addition to the writing/design parts, the technical process for these is really fun for me, too!

1. I write them in a spreadsheet, usually a Google doc.

2. I export that spreadsheet to a plaintext CSV.

3. I design a template with blank fields in InDesign.

4. Still in ID, I set up the blanks to map to specific columns in the CSV.

5. I do a Data Merge to pull the text into the template.

Took me a bit to figure out the process, but now it's quick and fun. :)

#InDesign performance is soooo sluggish compared to #Affinity Publisher.

Y'know, even if I only use this planner for 5.5 weeks of the new year, I sure did get some pleasure out of making it, and that's gotta be worth something. I'm still not very good at InDesign. But now I have a rainbow-y pdf planner with all 52 weeks and 12 months of 2023, links to each, habit trackers, space for notes, and a recreation of my favourite paper notebook for taking work notes. Not too shabby. Will I actually use it? Who knows.
