It is with great sadness that Debbie Kilroy has had to travel interstate to urgently relocate one of our sistas who is an Aboriginal Elder and who is one of the Stolen Generation.
We must get her out of her home where she is experiencing abuse and is not safe. She is very unwell and lives on oxygen. Her prognosis is not good.
She has to leave with only the clothes she is wearing, her medication and oxygen tank.
They will travel together by vehicle interstate and secure safe accommodation near a hospital so she is cared for and free from violence. There is no affordable accommodation across the country so the funds donated will go towards securing private rental until we can secure public housing near a hospital.
Please help us so she can live a longer life free from violence and live in a safe home.

As Frantz Fanon said, colonialism is the bringer of violence into the home and into the mind of the native.
Violence is the natural state of colonial rule.

Hey #climateActivist types, has anyone put together a list of actionable items that people can take to make the world a bit better? Not just in terms of #climateJustice or #environmentalism but also #indigenousSolidarity, #racialJustice, #community building, #feminist and #queer #action and more. If so, I'd really like to see it.
Please boost this post for reach. I want to know how we're helping each other, Mastodon!

NJ Indigenous Solidarity Post:
As we close in on so-called Thanksgiving I want to uplift the Ramapough Lunaape whose ancestral land I live and organize on. I’m thankful to have been able to organize I support of the Turtle Clan on their Munsee Three Sisters Medicine Farm.
The struggles of the Ramapough Lunaape are multifaceted. The state and capital have triangulated with white supremacist institutions like academia and the BIA to block them from federal recognition. This, coupled with over a century of racial epithets and lore surrounding the mixed communities of indigenous people, formally enslaved peoples and white miners, have framed the Munsee-speaking people in the Ramapo Mountains as subhuman. So when the state and Ford Motors collaborated to put a car manufacturing plant that dumped millions of gallons of toxic sludge in the Turtle Clan’s community, the decades of death and illness that befell them was discounted. The documentary Mann v. Ford highlights how the Turtle Clan community of Ringwood, NJ was decimated by these health conditions in a protracted battle with both corporate interests and the state. The Ramapough pass their ancestral knowledge through their elders, and because of this ecological and health crisis, there are fewer and fewer elders. When you’ve been dehumanized for centuries, endured massacres like the one in Pavonia (Jersey City), and purposefully divisive treaties like Easton, mass illnesses from colonialism, and economic, ecological, and racist exploitation, your modern struggles are blithely sidelined.
In organizing the Ramapough Lunaape Solidarity Project, we have made a conscious effort to learn about these struggles and uplift them; to provide our labor to their liberation and wellbeing; to contribute materially to their needs; and to assist in their efforts for #Landback, indigenous autonomy and sovereignty. Over 100 of us have contributed in someway over the last 3 years and we look forward to continuing to build our bonds. We are deeply thankful for this chance to work alongside people who are the original stewards of this land and nature, and for the relationships we’ve built, and for everything we’ve learned.
I encourage folks to check out this documentary and book to better acquaint themselves with the people involved and the history:
