@BinChicken It may be a good thing for Thorpe and the Greens. But the current situation when a Senator (or MP) can quit a party and sit as an independent (or even jump parties) robs voters of their votes for that party. And, IMHO, regardless of whether it's within the constitution, it's a flaw in our democracy!

I think a lot of the objection to the #IndigenousVoiceToParliament is based in racism firstly, but is also jumped on now based on interest in #money/#Profits involving indigenous communities.
Imho, they want to keep indigenous people divided so they can take advantage.

Realised last night that I live in a #UnitingChurch bubble. Panel at Readings Bookshop for #TheConversation, in which, while talking about the #IndigenousVoiceToParliament, they said the public wasn’t ready to vote on it, and that if the referendum was lost it would harm discussion for a generation. I guess it’s because of the 1994 Covenant between the Church and the #UAICC, and the 2009 addition of a Preamble to the Church Constitution, but I think we’re ready. https://uaicc.org.au
