Don't know if I'm seeing things or not, but it does seem that after the initial surge, Leftist (as in Indy Left, Socialist, and Communist) instances seem to have disappeared or are muted from the Fediverse.
In fact, I've heard several prominent Leftists state outright that they would still prefer staying on the MuskyBird site for as long as they can, because they don't feel welcome on Mastodon due to what they feel to be a neoliberal bias.
How can we change this?
Thinking about putting out my idea of a platform of immediate, short term, and long term actions that could be accomplished by an Indy Left movement upon seizing power.
Anyone game for it?

First act of new Democrat House leader Jeffries: Nut punch the "Far Left democratic social[ists].
Second act: Herd the House Democrats to break the railroad unions (but tack on a useless accompaniment bill asking the railroads to add a couple of days of sick leave, which will be simply ignored).
Is this what you mean by "pulling the Democrats Left, Senator Sanders??
Yeah, right.
