The informal economy is the world's largest employer: about 60% of jobs globally are estimated to be informal. Here's what's new: informal businesses all across the Global South are going digital. Their digital presence functions as a sort of official address. It could be used to deliver public services, such as support for struggling small businesses in a recession.
