Should you use the term "#insectdecline" in your paper title/abstract/media coverage etc.? Here are some guidelines we published a few years ago that may be useful https://resjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/icad.12406
Dramatic decline (72%) in #butterfly đŠoccupancy in #Denmark over 26 yr. During 1993-2014, FIVE SPECIES declared regionally #extinct. #BiodiversityCrisis #InsectDecline #InsectArmageddon #TimeSeries #LongTermMonitoring https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0006320723003099

This one is a major win because 3/4 of us are #AcademicMums. We fight with sleep deprivation, inconsistent childcare, countless illnesses and short-term contracts, so 1st author Franz Weyerer had to juggle our numerous work constraints on top of a challenging research project. But we made it work!
Here is our new #preprint showing how #coevolution of #mutualists accelerates or decelerates #pollinator extinction.

Thanks for that paper, which I have read. You reminded me that I have not read any other articles in the PNAS special issue. And thanks for the website which I had not seen.
@Huia_fishocean - not a book, but the lead article (Wagner et al.) from this symposium and associated papers are a good recent update of what is known about #InsectDecline I think all are open access.

Australian study of Christmas beetles is a great example of how we can use observations from the public to better understand #InsectDecline

Would any of the entomologists out there venture a recommendation of a book about the decline of insects that is more suitable for scientists? I found several popular accounts, but I would like something well referenced to use as a guide for delving deeper into the parts of the scientific literature that particularly catch my interest.

Fossil fuel folks used to claim rising CO2 levels "helped green up the Earth".
One of our lab's most troubling discoveriesâled by Dr. Ellen Welti now with the Smithsonianâis that even as grass production at Konza Prairie doubled over 20+ years, its nutrient contentâthe amount of nitrogen, potassium, sodium per biteâhad plummeted. At the same time, grasshoppersâa foundation taxaâdeclined >30%. #InsectDecline

Who is going to attend the annual #ecoevo #conference of SFE2 and GFĂ in Metz?
I'll be there, together with Avril Weinbach (postdoc) and Malina Palmer (soon-to-be PhD student). Both will present some really cool #modeling work on mutualistic systems. Are you joining as well? Then please let us know! We would love to get in touch!
