Rides to space are expensive. Private companys need to make money while NASA more ore less focus on science and reputation. Even today they select some great people to become astronauts.

You ever heard of #Inspiration4 ? A #SpaceX ride chartert by a billionaire but he donated two seats to the hospital St. Jude to raise money for cancer research. Hayley Arceneaux, a former patient of St. Jude got one of the seats and was assigned as as chief medical officer. Great woman and story

I recently wrote about one #NASA engineer's spare-time work to build a #spacesuit that would operate inside vehicles like #spacecraft. She's also looking to give back to the community, especially those in underprivileged areas.
