This (linked below) is a great short Q&A the EU Commission on what's happening next with new proposed EU-US Privacy Shield. 💡
Some key highlights include:
💭 A reminder of where we are now. The US has signed an Executive Order on 7 October to implement the agreement in principle announced in March.
📝 Next steps are with the EU Commission. In particular the European Data Protection Board will need to give an opinion, a committee of representatives will need to approve it and the EU Parlaiment will need to decide whether to scrutinise the decision.
🧐 What are the options for companies now? In summary, don't rely on the proposed Privacy Shield yet and keep using those other transfer mechanisms (SCCs etc.).

If your processing is subject to the EU #GDPR, and you have international transfers relying on the old EU #SCCs, you have until 27 Dec 2022 to replace them.
For processing subject to the UK GDPR, you have until 21 March 2024 to switch to the UK #IDTA. If you want a one-size-fits-all change (e.g. you want to cover both EU and UK GDPRs), you might want to incorporate the UK IDT Addendum at the same time as switching from old EU SCCs to new EU SCCs.

@Janet_LegReg I would need to give it a lot more thought. In particular, identifying what the relevant transfers are, and who does them.
For example, I suspect that there's a world of difference between an English admin who backs up their instance to a server in the USA, and a user of an instance in the UK @-mentioning someone in the USA.
