If you are a budding #inventor and employ an expensive #patent attorney to do searches for what is termed 'prior art', they may tell you that your idea is patentable and advise you to proceed.
Here's my tip:
BEFORE you pay their bill - try Google.

When you take off the blinkers and look over your own shoulder, you might hear a voice saying, "You've spent too long on that. Why don't you try this?"
#Hyperfocus can be really useful if you are on the right path but you have to avoid getting stuck in a rut with the lights off.
