My daughter and I took a short trip from #ipoh to #kualalumpur. We went by the #ets train and we like it! It's clean, comfortable and on time. I normally prefer the flexibility of driving myself, but it's nice to just sit and enjoy the ride. Or sleep the whole way, which is what my daughter did. She's a great traveller - sleeps anywhere!
I've always found the roads in #Ipoh to have interesting names. There's Regat this and Selasar that, which are very different from the road names where I used to live in the #KlangValley. But this road I just passed... This takes the cake. Jalan Jumbo Jet!!
Just saw an Uncle poke someone else's croissant at an #ipoh self-service food court. All kinds of people wandering around. So stay at the pickup counter if you don't want people touching your food with their germy fingers!! Yikes!
It's this an #ipoh thing? I've noticed for some time this (strange to me) practice of dining-in patrons ordering drinks in a takeaway packet. At first I thought maybe they wanted to drink some in-store and take most of it away with them. But I've seen these drink packets being left behind after they've finished their meal. So what gives?
I'm at a dinner event with hundreds of people. There's free-flow alcohol. But the toilets are CLEAN! Way to go #Ipoh people!
Pleasantly surprised that the toilets here at UTC Perak is actually really decent! Way to go #Ipoh folks!
Looking back at my 8 years living in #ipoh, I realise that I have learnt more about this city than people who have lived here all their lives. Could be the Internet. Could be #retirement #mentality. But gossip-wise, they still win hands-down.
Our lunch in a charming little cafe in #ipoh #malaysia. So recently I found out that #chickenchop is a #Malayan thing. Apparently, the Chinese migrants of Hainanese descent who worked in the kitchens of the colonial lords created the dish. So delish. Thank you to whomever dreamt it up all those many years ago.

Another reason I love living in #ipoh #malaysia. A #vintage cookbook being preserved under glass by the cafe owners who bought an old house and converted it into an eatery. I'm definitely starting something like this for my daughter to preserve. (I wonder if she'll be sentimental like me.)
I live in #Ipoh #Malaysia. Some call it a retirement town because of its greying population. I call it the Story Town. The elderly have so many tales to tell.
But most of all, they are tales in themselves.
I like to observe them - their outlooks, their idiosyncrasies, their health - and listen to their favourite topics of conversation.
And because I believe that you never see in others what you do not have within yourself, I still have much to learn. #mindfulness
I lived in the 'big city' most of my life but it didn't take long to get used to life here in slow-and-steady Ipoh. It's Qing Ming/Cheng Beng time of year and I feel slightly affronted at all the traffic from outstation. (Spoilt brat.) Good reminder to add in this piece into our homeschooling. In Waldorf education, festivals are important. A little challenging for me because it's not something my parents really emphasised growing up.
