I'm very sorry to hear of the death on Tuesday of architect Noel Dowley. Originally from Galway, he lived in Dublin for many years and taught several generations of architects in UCD. He was passionate about his craft, generous in passing on his knowledge to his students and a gentleman to all. #IrishArchitecture

I believe he may also have been responsible for one of my favourite buildings in #Galway - the Terryland Waterworks. I took these photos about 23 years ago on a snowy foggy morning.
