My old Rescue 117 buddies flew over Helvick a few minutes ago and turned at just the right moment for a nice shot. Gorgeous machine, and I am eternally grateful that service exists after they lifted me off a mountain following a fall a few years ago.

🏔️ Today we were exercising at Casana Rock in Howth.

🛟 This is a steep ground area we’ve undertaken many rescues and recoveries on before… 1/2 cont.

📟 This afternoon, we were tasked to assist @gardainfo@twitter.com with a missing persons investigation.

🔦 Extensive searches were conducted with nothing found.

Earlier today a caller contacted The Irish Coast Guard control room concerned about an object in the water near Portmarnock.

An initial response team proceeded to the location and confirmed nothing to report, a call with good intent. 👍🏻

📟 This afternoon the team were paged to assist a person needing medical assistance on the cliff path.

Using one our off-road 4x4 jeeps we transported the patient to a near by car park and rendezvous with an ambulance saving the patient time and discomfort. 🚑 #irishcoastguard

Volunteer #IrishCoastGuard units provide a Rescue Boat, Cliff Rescue, Shoreline Search & Emergency Community Support.

Development in the use of Drones provide units with enhanced search capability while helicopters provide 24/7 service.

📹 Since 2014, service demand for our unit has increased by 100%.

Our #howth based SAR Tech’s now respond to over 140 calls a year. On average, that’s a callout every 2.6 days.
