Lots of food for thought in the book. Manchán, in my view, is a national treasure, his optimism and exuberence in matters of langage and tradition are such a breath of fresh air.
I had the pleasure of talking with on my #podcast, which you might enjoy

I want to learn Esperanto for anarchist reasons.
I want to keep up my French because I've invested so much into it and I love it.
I want to learn Irish to connect with my ancestors in a very witchy, historic ways.
I want to continue learning ancient Greek for scholarly purposes and philosophical fun times.
Even me, the prince of ADHD, cannot manage this hunger.

Irish Times: "Irish replaces French as second most popular language in North’s A-levels - Optional Irish available in only 35 per cent of schools but held firm as other languages declined"
The DUP are going to love this - not. 😂

Belfast Telegraph: "Irish language to be used during coronation of King Charles"
Well that's going to impress the DUP, not. Gaeilge being used in the coronation of a king to which they pledge undying fealty does somewhat undermine the DUP opposition to Irish language legislation.

Peig reconsidered!
Why is the #autobiography of Peig Sayers so frequently cited as a cause for dislike of the #IrishLanguage?
Colm O Bróin makes the case that the much maligned book should be reconsidered
Might the book be a useful scapegoat for the shame, guilt or sorrow some feel for the lack of #Gaeilge proficiency?

There are a few words in the English language that originate in Irish. These include boreen.
Originally, the Irish word for road, bóthar, meant a path wide enough for 2 cows. A bóithrín was a little cow track.

To what degree will the success of the Oscar nominated filme, An Cailín Ciúin / The Quiet Girl, impact the #IrishLanguage?
Carlos Aguilar captures many of the barriers to broader use of #Gaeilge and how the film is stimulating new interest in the language so often associated with rural #Irish poverty

There is a new world of #IrishLanguage film to be explored. The recent #Oscars2023 nomination of An Cailín Ciúin / The Quiet Girl is shifting perceptions of the ancient language. There are now attractive funding mechanisms in place which encourage #film in #Ireland’s native language
