We start out in #Sevilla, then on to #Córdoba, #Granada (yes, I live here lol), and #Toledo. I think there's another city in there somewhere.
I could probably have found an English speaking guide for myself here in #Spain . But I think the group aspect of it will be a real blessing (and a challenge) in some ways.
Anyway, that is a LOT of #Hijabis in one place!

In the year 857, Fatima al-Fihri used her inheritance to fund the construction of a mosque for her community with an associated school. She wanted to give back to the community that had welcomed her family after they immigrated from Tunisia. The mosque was for 22,000 worshipers, it remains the largest in Africa. #IslamicHistory

I am a PhD student in Islamic and Arabic Studies in Münster, Germany, working on practices of evidence and strategies of verification of prophetic descent in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century North Africa. In particular, I am examining texts on a particular descent community claiming prophetic descent: the descendants of ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Jilānī, from a translocal perspective.
