But generally for #Tor users it's an annoyance as its anti-bot measures are very user-hostile.

It also makes mandatory to enable #Javascript in one's #browser, which in general but especially in conjunction with #JIT is a #security hazard.

Depending on the settings used, it can also act as a general #MitM attacker.

I can anecdotally report that for reading #manga on various sites (obviously the main use of #JS), disabling #JIT on #Firefox has no perceptible performance impact (on ~10yo hardware).

@ErictheCerise @robryk Same thoughts but regarding disabling #JIT reliably for all profiles.

@ipg @atomicpoet It does make the #Pleroma development fairly sensible in retrospect.

It's a really weird showing, I've worked a bit with #BeamVM and while it's not amazing for certain tasks, it seems to scale a /lot/ better than what Mastodon's using at network tasks.

I'm somewhat curious whether running #Mastodon using #GraalVM would lead to any noticeable improvements.

Or even just enabling the experimental #JIT features in the baseline #Ruby runtime.

As I’ve explained to Ministers, we are currently working on this option together with @Eurojust and the #JIT to help Ukrainians coordinate the collection of evidence. These discussions including on accountability mechanisms such as a special tribunal will continue with Ukraine.
