I'm sorry but this thing about on about him hiding things like geese, bears and a defeated Napoleon in his paintings is daft. You can interpret anything as anything if you look at it long enough. It's like looking at clouds overhead and saying what you think they look like. This guy is reaching, imo. Nice idea, but no.

This is a single large bead I made while thinking of the Venetian scene paintings by JMW Turner, from his late phase in which he approaches not just impressionism before there was such a thing but almost outright abstraction. You can read all about how I arrived at this in the description: etsy.com/listing/1443198758/ha

In 1840 Turner’s usual late summer tour ended with two weeks in Venice. The translucent watercolours he produced are amongst his most acclaimed, debated and copied. John Ruskin, declared them, "Characteristic of Turner’s entirely final manner when the languor of age made him careless, or sometimes reluctant in outline, while yet his hand had lost none of its subtlety, nor his eye of its sense for colour."

'Fishermen at Sea' or 'Cholmeley Sea Piece' was the first painting by JMW Turner to be exhibited at the Royal Academy. The painting juxtaposes the fragility of human life, represented by the small boat's flickering lamp, and power of nature, represented by the dark sky, the sea, and the rocks in the background. The cold light of the Moon at night contrasts with the warmer glow of the fishermen's lantern.

JMW Turner made his first short visit to Venice in 1819 and it inspired him to produce several very free and distinct watercolours that reveal a new understanding of the qualities of such painting. It's believed this early morning scene of San Giorgio Maggiore was observed from the Palazzo Giustiniani that later became the Hotel Europa in which Turner stayed on subsequent visits.

Greg Smith's of (1775-1802) is breathtaking. In a short life Girtin packed in much invention and innovation - from The White House at Chelsea to soaring architectural exteriors with light itself as the subject.

Here's a wash drawing with me attributed to but which, possibly (based on paper type, size and technique) could be a Turner/Girtin 'co-production' of c.1794. If it isn't it doesn't matter: it cost me a measly £2.

This vignette of a ship in a storm is one of more than thirty watercolour sketches by J M W Turner identified as preliminary studies for Thomas Campbell’s Poetical Works. This particular sketch is thought to be a preliminary design for 'The Andes Coast' to accompany Thomas Campbell’s poem, ‘The Pleasures of Hope’. That painting is now in the National Gallery of Scotland.

- One of my better results from Midjourney, using the prompt -

Boudicca in Colchester in the style of J. M. W. Turner, beautiful, 8K, octane rendering, real photos, complex details, volumetric lighting, ultra wide angle of view, panoramic shooting, 8k HD

I installed the Stable Diffusion A.I. plugin into Blender 3.3 last night, I think I need to do a few days with it to get a good result.
