Some real-world places get used frequently for TV and movie locations. I was recently watching "Jack Ryan" on Amazon and there's a scene in episode 2 of season 2 that is supposed to take place in a Caracas Venezuela hotel. It looked familiar to me... I realized that it looked like a scene from "John Wick 2". And it is! It's the ballroom of the Jane Hotel in Greenwich Village, NYC.

The "Jack Ryan" show on Amazon is a conundrum. I shouldn't like it as much as I do. Something dumb happens in every episode. The protagonists will be involved in the plot in an unrealistic way, or characters will make inexplicable decisions. You can hear the writers saying, "It would be cool if..." and not "It would be plausible if..."

But it has prestige show style, big budget locations, and John Krasinski is an engaging actor. Is that enough?

#JackRyan And when you establish a character like Jim Greer with James Earl Jones.. those are big shoes to fill. And Wendell Pierce fills them admirably.

Been watching the #JackRyan series based on Tom Clancy's character. Having been a fan of Harrison Ford's portrayal in the movies (Clear and Present Danger is one of my background noise movies), I've been enjoying the prequel-y feel and learning more about what made Jack, Jack. I've also appreciated the depths of characters in the story so far. It's not cable, so violence, language, and etc are things. But If that doesn't bother ya, I can say I'm enjoying it a lot.
