A late #Jamuary food entry. First time attempting a 2 tiered cake for my niece's upcoming 18th birthday.
Lessons learned:
- Ditch a layer for the top tier, it's too big.
- Put the top tier in the fridge to chill to make it more manageable when placing on top of the bottom tier.
- Find a better way to cover up the seam between tiers. Maybe piping would work better here.
@BluRae - I have delivered :)
Absolutely felt inspired today in making the final #Jamuary entry. Definitely in my top 5 for the month.
Only change I'd make is pull back some of the high end in the main sequence, kind of too gritty there.
All said and done for #Jamuary2023:
- 65 hours of effort
- 165 minutes of recorded content
Felt like I phoned in this #jamuary / #jamuary2023 and that I've done this idea before. Had two false starts where I liked the starting point but couldn't progress through the meat of it and make something out of it.
Maybe next time.
With this final weekend in #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 I wanted the performance to be perfect, so I had to take notes and a few dry runs before recording. I still had one or two mix ups but they shouldn't be terribly noticeable.
The part in the middle ended up reminding me of Global Communications 14:31 - didn't intend it that way, really happy it worked out.
Today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 is a bit of a slow jam, for all you lovers out there.
This day's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 entry focuses on layering a few sequences over top of each other.
I considered adding some more at different rates, but decided against it. Restraint is tough for me sometimes.
Had a lot of fun with this #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 creation as well. More Audible Instruments (Mutable Instruments in #vcvrack ) module focus, and got a nice rhythm going. Enjoying Stages and Marbles a lot.
I think this is a nice kind of sound I'd want to explore a bit more.

Another one that's more of an experiment than a jam, this time using velocity to trigger patch changes on the Waldorf Blofed, as sequenced by the Deluge (a few keys are also MIDI mapped to send stop/start messages to the Deluge) #jamuary #electronicmusic #synthstromdeluge #blofeld https://youtube.com/shorts/jP5Rn6R9eGY?feature=share

Things came a bit more naturally with today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 - I had a decent idea while I put together lunch, got great progress into this, then wrapped it up after finishing work.
This was the drum sound I was trying to get yesterday!
Focused more on playing live and just went with it.
Today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 is OK. Happy with the flute, drums are OK.
Got hung up on some of the logic modules, for some reason trying to use switches ended up adding steps to the sequence (maybe a clock delay would've helped). So I had to use toggles to mute. But then it was a toggle on trig and not on gate, so I had to find a gate to trig module that could do what I wanted. And after all that, realize the mixer was configurable...
Wasted too much time :(
Not so much a #Jamuary jam as it is a generative #ambient wash, but there's fun to be had with the multitimbrality of the Waldorf Blofeld. Here, all 8 sounds are from the same multi-patch, triggered on different MIDI channels by the Deluge. Each sequence is a slightly different length, so it all separates from itself slowly.

It got a little dark in today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 piece. Diving a bit into Clouds/Supercell, making it a bit uncomfortable.
There's a personal story in the full youtube description about my grandmother's failing health - so **consider that a CW on reading the linked full description**
Here's today's proper #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 entry.
It's a bit repetitive - something I know I need to work on as I sketch these things out.
Yesterday I did a bunch of yard work breaking down a small tree that had fallen in the heavy winds around New Year's. Weather and laziness kept me from doing that earlier.
All that activity wore me out and by the time I started working on #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 I was mentally exhausted.
So today's a double header. I don't have much to say about these otherwise.
I had a lot of fun building sound effects for today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 in #vcvrack .
Blue Noise was the audio source for rain, but heavy modulation to cutoff - a sequence, white noise, and a fast running AD envelope gives more variation.
A dropped 'A' (13.5Hz) combined with white noise, and a ratched envelope to cutoff and delayed to drive provides a rumble and echo of thunder.
Add chords and light percussion - another night in the cold neon glow of the city.

Had some fun running the Circuit Mono Station through the Deluge for #Jamuary. Playing with the delay sync is a nice way to add variety #electronicmusic #synthstromdeluge #circuitmonostation

I'm OK with today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 piece being similar to what I've done more recently, mainly because its something I wanted to listen to tonight.
I was reinvigorated for today's #Jamuary / #Jamuary2023 entry. A good friend of mine showed a video of someone deconstructing and reproducing one of Boards of Canada's pieces. That made me want to create something that had that faded tape, lightly warbled analog feel.
Enter 'Planks of America,' a little Boards of Canada tribute, done in #vcvrack as usual.

Today's #jamuary / #Jamuary2023 is fairly simple.
Honestly, I felt like this was phoning it in. After yesterday's effort, the tank just feels empty. Hopefully tomorrow is more fruitful. Maybe I need to listen to some other music and get some inspiration.
I had a TON of fun making some #chiptunes in #vcvrack for #jamuary / #jamuary2023 today!!
I kept to the Ricoh 2A03 APU - two pulse wave, one triangle, and one noise. Noise is tuned to four different drumkit stypes, but since only one is playing at a time, that tracks with how it would be used in hardware. The NES APU could create an envelope, so that was in play here.
No filters!
The challenging parts was coming up with with several 32-step melodies and harmonies.
