Before building a streaming video player in #javascript on a severely constrained smart TV, I *thought* I understood JS performance pretty well.

BTW, most smart TV's have really crappy memory and CPU constraints: Usually 500MB and a dual core CPU with embedded V8/Chromium

So, you need to do two basic but hard things:

1. Make it small: Parsing, interpreting, and optimizing code is really expensive. So, ship less code .... much less.

2. Do everything you can to help the garbage collector
