The opening track, Refuge, is phenomenal. It opens in 6/8 and then drops into 4 (with the 8th staying the same) and eventually to a double time groove meaning the 8th is twice as fast as the opening. It then meanders between these three feels throughout.

The opening of Eric Dolphy 's solo at 2:57 sounds like he was shot out of a cannon.

The entire track is fierce. A must-hear album! #jazz

Live #Jazz packt immer noch alles andere in den Sack, kein Mist. Vor allem, wenn ein Typ wie INGEBRIGT HÅKER FLATEN mit seinem Bass dermaßen Kontra gibt. Nicht minder mind-blowing: PAAL NILSSEN-LOVE an Drums und Percussion gleichzeitig und total okay am Tenor Sax DAVID MURRAY. Letzterer eigentlich der Star hier, aber die beiden ersteren haben ihm schon ein bisschen die Show gestohlen ;)

Played a quick set at a #jazz festival today.

Two random observations:

1) It was nice to look out from the stage and see a few visibly #queer people. I would never call them out but it's still nice to see.
2) Lady walking through the crowded street. "Is this that "gay" event?" 🤦‍♂️
