One of my masters degrees is in Piano Performance. My specialty back then was performing 20th/21st century music, and that would’ve been my focus if I’d gone on to get my doctorate. At the time, I gave an extra long masters recital, and half of it was works by #AaronCopland, #JohnCage, and #LeoOrnstein.
I’m glad I left academia, just for my mental health, but I still love playing/listening to/advocating for recent/current composers.
