A crowd gathers at Thunder Bay on Aug. 20, 1979 to see the body of former PM John Diefenbaker, who died on Aug. 16.
His body was being transported to Saskatoon.
It was said it was the largest crowd seen at the station since local residents saw troops go off to war in the Second World War.

Prime Minister John Diefenbaker is inducted into the Whitecap Dakota First Nation on May 27, 1959. Chief Harry Littlecrow gives him the name Chief Walking Buffalo.
As PM, Diefenbaker gave the Indigenous people the vote & appointed the 1st Indigenous Senator, James Gladstone.

In #canpol both the #Conservatives and the #Liberals have long encouraged candidates from visible minorities, hoping that will give them an edge with certain groups of voters.

Maybe he's terrible, maybe he's great. No one seems concerned that, so far as I can tell, he has no experience in government or administration of anything. Even someone with brilliant ideas and great rhetoric will fail as a leader if he doesn't know how to run things.
