I think it's a shame for the #JuniorDoctorStrikes in terms of media coverage. I know there's a temptation to blame the BBC and media generally for its bias though I did see stuff on the BBC News front page. I think the issues are:
1. Lineker, a relatable, easy story to tell.
2. Everybody's on strike, not just doctors so it's not novel.

@russellt not yet… their T&C’s are broadly similar to those in England and the Scottish ballot for junior doctor stokes is planned for the end of March. They are also asking for full pay restoration, which they should absolutely get. #bma #juniordoctors #JuniorDoctorStrikes #PayRestoration

£14 an hour!! That is all. At the moment Pret A Manger pays its barrista’s £14…. Pay restoration would increase their salary to £19 an hour. £19 an hour for all they do (not to mention their debt) is quite frankly a bargain! #PayRestoration #JuniorDoctorStrikes #JuniorDoctor #supportNHS #SupportJuniorDoctors

Next week in the UK it’s the #JuniorDoctorStrikes our trainees are striking over their terms and conditions at work and are asking the government to reverse the 25% pay cut they have experienced over the last 10 years. I fully support them in their right to strike and also in their fight for #PayRestoration. The NHS is a public service but that doesn’t mean it’s workers should be poorly paid. The right wing press will tell you doctors are ridiculously overpaid but we are not. Don’t be misled.

Just had BMA Lincoln Division meeting with update on #JuniorDoctorStrikes

If you’re a #JuniorDoctor :
-ensure details of place of work correct on BMA website
-you have to vote YES in the ballot if you want the option to strike (it doesn’t commit you)
-start saving as you won’t be paid for strike days

If you’re another doctor:
-donate to the strike fund (searchable on the BMA website)
-sign off as many competencies for your juniors as possible. Get them ARCP ready
