Stakes could be personal, societal, political, & apocalyptic all at once.

It could be enjoyed on many levels: Teen girl drama! Tensions of old friends growing up, growing apart, and finding themselves on opposite sides. Metaphor for internal conflicts in modern feminism. Answer to a certain transphobe's wizard-school series. The flash-bang fun of a modern fantasy action adventure.

5. Taschenbuchauflage! Dieser kleine Gruselroman, seit 2015 in meiner Übersetzung auf dem deutschen Markt, ist echt ein Steadyseller. Der stammt noch aus der Zeit vor Junos Transition.

Interesting story:

Years ago, Art Spiegelman acted like such a condescending jerk on an #NPR literary show (how do you mess up an NPR culture interview?) that I lost any interest in reading “Maus” —and my man keeps a copy on the Judaic shelf in our haus.

Today, Juno Dawson gave such a lovely interview on the “Homo Sapiens” #podcast that I just bought the “Her Majesty’s Royal Coven” #audiobook —and a #fantasy #YA #book aimed at girls isn’t something I’d seek out.

Yesterday I went to the launch of a brand new #BookClub here on #TheWirral, organised by Trans-Mission (https://www.facebook.com/groups/664022538264887/), a new-ish local social group for trans people and their nearest & dearest, and the venue host Bear Hunt Books (https://bearhuntbooks.co.uk/) in Bebington. We discussed "Stay Another Day" by Juno Dawson, (although not everybody had finished reading it). My verdict? Loved the book, really enjoyed the meeting!

This chapter of #thisbookisgay would have been so helpful for 2007 me to read. I was hyper fixated on #stereotypes and it led to a lot of #internalizedhomophobia because I thought if I could suppress my more feminine side, my parents would come to accept Rich's and my relationship. Never happened.
