This morning I got jupyterhub running with the OpenTelemetry operator and python auto instrumentation which meant spawned pods for user had tracing wired

I’m glad I worked through getting it wired myself as it demystifies what the operator and instrument CRD are doing

Yup pretty straightforward see the issue for uninteresting traces on a local running jupyterhub.

Seems to be another (non fatal) auto instrumentation issue with EACCESS on system_metrics via psinfo.net_connections()

Ok more digging and the issue I'm hitting is in the dbapi instrumentation/sqlite3 and a missing super init.

There seems to be a PR already so maybe I can just turn off that integration for now.

Currently, at UCSB, most of our #jupyter, #scipy, and #rlang environments are deployed via #JupyterHub on #Google GKE. Our base and course images are all public and open source on our github (as well as build/test/deploy pipelines). We are in process of moving from primarily using GKE to running them on #Kubernetes on prem. Among other things, the stack has gotten incredibly popular and the price of cloud services reflects that. We're moving to a more hybrid cloud model longterm. #rstats
