Earlier this week I released version 0.5.1 of spyder-notebook, a plugin for Spyder (the scientific Python IDE) which can display and run Jupyter notebooks. More info on GitHub: github.com/spyder-ide/spyder-n

This version is based on the new Jupyter Lab v4 and the even newer Jupyter Notebook v7. The latter was announced in this blog post: blog.jupyter.org/announcing-ju

The new Jupyter Notebook version is a massive improvement for us because it allows us to follow Jupyter more closely. An important benefit for users is that any Jupyter extensions can now be used inside Spyder (fair warning: not all extensions are yet updated to work with Jupyter Lab v4).

Thanks to all the people at Jupyter Notebook and the wider Jupyter ecosystem for their work, the open architecture making it easy to build on their products.

Day 71 of is done. I had to take a weekend off to recharge a little, but I hope I can get back to coding at least an hour every day. Of course, there will be days where it is simply not possible, but that is okay too. Today I analyzed and visualized some Google search data in , but to be honest, it was hard to get back into the coding process and I thought I'd get some more done. Either way, I am happy to continue the challenge.

Hey you and experts out there, is there Cell Metadata property to make it so a markdown cell can't be switched to code/edit mode, but will stay rendered? I've found settings to lock it from being editable so far πŸ‘ but want to keep it locked rendered

Best overview so far given in "The Design Space of Computational Notebooks" (2020). There is much more than and @observablehq

Most remarkable to me is the blind spot ! They are used a lot like computational notebooks but by a different community ("data practice" vs "data science") and both could learn a lot from each other.
