Google's deletion of #Panoramio create 5,000 dead links in my global #KML #placemarks file, all carefully selected #archaeology images. A lot of lost work for me, most still not restored.

I did archive every lo-res and hi-res image myself though and have a KML copy using the images on my drive.
The big loss was the best archaeology #photo research resource on the #WWW disappeared.

gpsbabel -i kml -f transects.kml -x track,faketime=20120901000001 -o gpx -F transects.gpx
```
As I understand it, importing kml into OSM is deliberately broken by most tools, to discourage users from digitizing features directly from #Google maps for use in OSM, which would violate copyrights and cause problems for the project.
In this case, a student created a transect map in Google Earth, and I want to use it on OSMand. Which shouldn't infringe on anyone's copyright.
Of course, if Google hadn't long abandoned the "Don't Be Evil" facade, maybe this wouldn't be necessary.

A great NOVA episode, with little mention of the geometric #earthworks in Acre and adjoining areas. I hope they do an entire episode on what are called #Geoglifos in #Brazil. We have currently identified about 1,000 of the monumental structures, some quite massive.
