Unreal heat indices in Kansas this afternoon. Actual temp at Lawrence is 102F. But with a dew point of 83F, the heat index is .... 131F.
It's about as high as I've seen in the U.S., anywhere, anytime. #kswx #heatwave

I’ve been working on getting a webapp for my weather station working. Weewx is the app, and it displays the weather information from my Weatherflow Tempest in real time.
You can see it here: https://weather.2whippets.org
Still a work in progress. #kswx #weather #weatherflow #lawrenceks

Have to wait for the rain gauge to defrost before reporting the moisture from the last 24 hours. No snow here, but a thin layer of ice is going to make for a nasty commute. #kswx
I’m wishing we had a really big snow. Alas, that just doesn’t seem to happen here anymore. 😔
Holy cow it is cold here! It went from 55 to 27 in less than four hours here at #2whippets. https://tempestwx.com/station/50051/graph/143615/temp/2. #kswx
1.5 inches of snow on our deck chair this morning. That is more than I was expecting out of this storm. 32 degrees. Not a bad way to start the day! #kswx #lawrenceks #lfk
It’s not snowing hard, but it is snowing in Lawrence, KS. We are on the edge of it, so not holding out for a lot. #kswx #lfk #lawrenceks
Travel could be hazardous over the next couple of days if you are traveling from Iowa/Minnesota to the Rockies. Ice Storm Warnings & Winter Storm Warnings have been issued.
Some locales could have 10"-18" of snow and others 0.25" to 0.50" of ice.

Just had an interesting 6+ hours as the power went out at my parent's house in Kansas City. Very localized outage limited to their neighborhood, but this late in the day we made arrangements to stay with other family overnight. Dad and I were lingering until the fire in the fireplace had burned down and power came back as we were walking out the door.
Current temp is -7F/-21C windchill -30F/-34C. House temp was down to 60F/15C by the time power was restored. #KSwx #MOwx

Wind chills are closing in on -40 degrees, where everything is cold and the units don't matter.
There’s a -24° windchill. The kiddos and papa are sleeping in the living room with the fireplace. #kswx
