I work as a network engineer in TAC, and in my free time do other various uppercase I Internet projects to make the infrastructure of the Internet better. This includes running an Internet Exchange (FCIX), I helped build the NS-global free DNS service (https://ns-global.zone/), and with @warthog9 we're trying to fix free software/Linux download mirrors (#MicroMirror project)

When I'm not playing with 10-100Gbps Ethernet, I also like playing with #electronics, ranging from soldering up a quick 555 to ESP32 to vintage 8 bit CPUs. #VibtageElectronics #Z80

I also just bought my first house in 2022, which has turned out to be a bloody flipper nightmare of a house, but I'm having a good time getting to fix everything wrong with it. #KWFHellHouse

Apparently I never took an after photo, but you know those access hatches into the attic?

Mine was completely uninsulated and just a piece of 1/2" sheetrock, so with how cold it's been this week I could feel the cold air rolling off of it onto my desk.

So I glued a piece of 2" foam insulation on the back of it. A little better now. #KWFHellHouse

The sellers have sent me their counter-proposal that instead of removing the surprise hot tub and patio, they _only_ remove and backfill the spa while leaving the rest of the patio in the backyard, and leave the same deck there made of untreated 2x4s and interior framing nails.

They can get fucked. #KWFHellHouse

Good news. The surprise hot tub under my deck is almost filled to the benches now, with all the rain we've gotten in the last week. #KWFHellHouse

I was planning on buying a pair, but someone had already cut one in half and I don't really need two sheets at a time.

Today's forward progress on the #KWFHellHouse is mounting my Arista Wifi Access Point on the wall.

Arista actually makes wildly nice APs (previously "Mojo") and they are stupid cheap on eBay because they're all cloud managed so the hardware is essentially useless without a support contract 🙄

Plumber is back on #KWFHellHouse working on the sewer, and I told him to keep cutting until the cancer was gone.

He's telling me it's a total loss. Every pipe in this house is trash.

Looks like I managed to no scope headshot into the right wall cavity on the first try. #KWFHellHouse

That's a lot of tension. The angle of the photo makes it look better than it actually is. Could even be yoinking inside the box which would explain neighbour issues but not at same time as mine. Wind likely does very random things.
