...usually, names are "spoken" in a specific frequency, which generates something close to a digital signal (on or off / 1 or 0), hence the binary code. but what if a #Karyta wants to communicate with another species that mostly relies on acoustic input? of course the meaning of their electric signals can be translated to some extent, but translating a name would be difficult. and referring to someone by using a number like 111010110111 wouldn't work in the long run...

[#EB7] (pronounced "e-be-seven") is a [#Karyta], which is a water-based alien species that originates from [Yr'takia]. their strange name "EB7" is some sort of abbreviation for [111010110111], which is even stranger.

the reason for this is the Karyta's way of communication. they do not "talk" by using acoustic signals, but a combination of fast electric impulses and bioluminescence. the latter mostly conveys emotions...

you can see this as a continuation of my last drawing of the [#Karyta]. it shows the very unlikely scenario that someone would have actually walked up to the grinning alien and said "hello" instead of running away. this #drawing is the answer.

unfortunately, electric charges and unpredictable flashes of light are not received so well by other species. that's why [Karyta], leaving their homeland, had to adapt a bit. they use translators for speech and try to imitate emotions with facial expressions. some do it quite well, others might need a bit more practice...

it's a creature called #Ozyres (short: Ozy) from Yr'takia, the planet of #Karyta and #Arka - that's two very opposing species of my world. the Ozyres live on the borderlands where oceans meet the shores. they are dangerous predators and not to be underestimated. and yeah, I think them adorable too x3

actually, the #Karyta species has only one sex, so the concept of male and female was completely foreign to them, until they explored other parts of their planet besides the deep oceans (and space). but you are right, this one looks rather female, with the softer facial features. in my world Karyta get sorted into the male/female system quite often by (unknowing) individuals of other species, according to the "standards" of their society.
