Have started watching #Katla on #Netflix. It’s like Solaris meets Twin Peaks set on an glaciated Icelandic volcano. My favourite kind of Nordic supernatural drama. 🫣

Another caveat on #Katla… Valter Skarsgård plays a character with a disability. He’s of course very good, but there was no absolutely NO reason for #cripface casting. Sigh.

I watched & highly recommend the extraordinary #Katla on @Netflix.
[⚠️Caveat/TW: The show deals with grief—specifically the aftermath of maternal depression & suicide—& chronic illness & disability.]

The aesthetic of #NordicHorror & #NordicSciFic is far more foreign than the language. (Where Nordic peoples interact in these shows, English seems to be their common language). Once you develop a taste for it, it gets in your head.

#NordicNoir is now one of my favourite genres.
