Tāne Mahuta, god of the forest, is the largest living Kauri tree. It is over 1000 years old and these photos truely do not capture its enormous presence.

The trunks and canopies of trees in this forest are covered in epiphytes: small plants that grow on other plants symbiotically. #kauriTree #taneMahuta #Aotearoa #NewZeland #waipouaForest

Here’s my attempt at Tāne Mahuta, the largest living Kauri tree. I got to spend some time in its presence in Aotearoa New Zealand earlier this year and it was one of the most moving and wonderful experiences of my life.
