Good news on #electricvehicles as #BMW decide to continue the production of the Electric Mini in Oxford, suggesting all is not lost for the #electriccar sector in the UK's automative #manufacturing despite fears around market access to the EU.

I'm sure #JeremyHunt will claim this all his or #KemiBadenoch's doing, while 'forgetting' that the problems around this decision were related to #Brexit.

Still, good news especially for the #workers whose jobs now seem secure!

aha, so now #KemiBadenoch is hinting that the progressive move to ban emissions producing #vehicles by 2030 may also be watered down.... well certainly #electricvehicles aren't the whole answer to the #climatecrisis, but we can be pretty sure the continued production of #fossilfuel during transport isn't going to aid any attempt to get to #netzero.... very clearly the #Tories think climate sceptics are numerous enough to swing the next #election.... You may have received confirmation overnight the Parliament e-Petition on 'committing to not amending the Equality Act's definition of sex' will be 'debated' on 12th June.

Of course by then, Badenoch likely will have made it completely pointless.

And as I expected, the original one (the anti-trans one) to amend it to make it based on 'biological sex' (whatever that means), which has 30k fewer signatures, will be 'debated' at the same time.

So it looks like the Govt. has U-Turned on retaining EU laws on the statute books, shifting two removing a focussed proportion rather than just everything on sunset clause day.

So the 'Equalities' Minister once again plays into the most reactionary right-wing framing.

Although I don't know why anyone would believe what Badenoch says on anything - and her love for using the American Right's concocted playbook, led by the likes of Christopher Rufo and James Lindsay - after she promoted in the Commons that 'CRT' (as Rufo says on his OG tweet, code for anything anti-racism) was being taught in schools here as well.

This is appalling discrimination against #trans people. Of course, with all the focus on Harry's revelations, there's been very little about it in the media, but it will cause significant problems for trans people in Scotland following the passing of the #GRA there, as well as for those from other countries. Just another example of the Tories' #transphobia.
