@unboxedcereal I used stepped dice like this in

Attr dice + d6 skill dice = 6 is a success.

Multiple bumps bring ATTR or skill to d8, d10, d12, d12+d6, d12+d8, d12+d10, d12+d12
Player chooses to bump either Attr or skill dice. Bumps come from traits, skills, browbeating GM with evidence why you should get a bump. Dips also modify down.

It’s simple enough to be elegant, primitive enough to not be too clunky.

@opalbreezegames yeah I’m favouring the stepped increase of dice.

In you only get two dice (unless you’re super awesome) so only the super awesome would be able to go quick, efficient and quality.

Which I like.

@lategamer I backed the FL BR RPG purely because I'm a massive fan of the setting (and movies, etc.) and it's pretty and will look good in my collection. I only skimmed the PDF but, yeah, some bits didn't gel with me.

sounds pretty cool. Colour me interested.

@andy I’m just about to release in public.

I didn’t like how the FL BladeRunner game rewarded the police for hunting escaped slaves. So I wrote my ideas down.

The game centres around a “Repro” having their first Moment (emotional epiphany). They have to work at getting more Moments. And how this puts them at danger of detection and will, if they escape, be their Salvation.

@lategamer I take it is your passion project? From what you were saying yesterday about replicants living out their final years?

That aside, sounds interesting. One of the things I found fascinating about the Envoys in the Takeshi Kovacs novels (not the series...) was the idea of highly trained operatives being sent to distant planets to casually depose entire governments and destabilise society. And having the (human-scale) skills to do so.

For the I think I’ll be pilfering from as the Core Values thing is interesting though I may mix that with passions/virtues. The main system will be a simple dice pool - similar to what I’ve used for or .

There doesn’t need to be much system to support the Culture. It’s really more about human-scale conflicts. Everything else is narration/plot points

modern and seem to have a common mechanic. Roll a pool of d6 and hit a target number. In Burning Wheel it’s 3+, in Year Zero it’s a 6, PBTA it’s 5, but lower if you’re prepared to eat some humble pie (I am being very very generics)
It’s an interesting trend.
In I m using 6s, but bumping them to d8s, d10s, d12s through skills and advantages
