yes, this is a theme that has been clear from my timeline for some time... perhaps the pragmatic Q. is could they be worse than the #tories?

As often noted our only real hope is the #KierStarmer has a plan that is under wraps & his public pronouncements are intended to mislead the Tory press... but its a hope based on almost no evidence (as is also frequently pointed out)

Interestingly, @davidallengreen thinks this reflects a certain sort of #litigation mindset.... if DAG is right (& it certainly seems plausible), we're left with the Q. how confident are we that post-election Starmer will have a big reveal of his 'real' political approach?

So #labourparty lost the Uxbridge by election by 495 votes and are now saying that they got their green policy wrong.

I say lack of imagination and ambition is the problem.

Why not sponsor car manufacturers to develop a cheap and affordable electric vehicle. The 'people's car'. Sell it for £10k at cost price. In 1940 the US car manufacturing industry switched to building planes in 9 months.

Yup, fair comment.... we'll only find out once the dust settles after the the next #election, the shape of the Govt. is revealed & they actually start to do (or not do) things.... its pretty unlikely to be worse than the current lot, but like a lot of people I'm sceptical about quite how much better it *might* - there's an awful lot of people banking on #KierStarmer running a programme of miss-direction aimed at the #Tory press... which will be unmasked after we've voted!

#KierStarmer writing in the Sun on Sunday is exactly what he should be doing, going onto Conservative territory with sensible sounding policies.
The real question is, who will Murdoch back next time? It seems unlikely it will be the certain losers.

@fkamiah17 not dim at all. #UKLabour are so far right of where they should be. I am 67 and find the Union flag waving and controlling edicts from #KierStarmer off putting to say the least.

Given that the #Tories have seldom been backwards at leaking reports in advance or making early (but faulty) accusations, one cannot help but think the reason that #OliverDowden is refusing to say whether he thinks that #SueGray broke #civilservice guidelines in taking a job with #KierStarmer is because they've actually found no evidence at all & are preparing to back-track on earlier accusations...

Of course, there may be other explanations, but reticence is not a standard #Tory trait.

I was generous enough to give #KierStarmer the benefit of the doubt (even after orchestrating a cruel and nauseating persecution of the left) and it is frankly staggering just how deceitful, uninspiring and cynical is the #Labour party under his leadership.

Say what you want about #Corbyn but at least he sympathised with the needs of the average Brit. Starmer on the contrary seems he would throw his own nan under the bus for a bit of power and then lie through his teeth about it.

Has abandoned his pledge on tuition fees. Completely indifferent to the privatisation of the NHS. The only thing he seems to be firm about is Brexit, and he doesn't even believe in it.

It is astonishing he's on to win a landslide and really clear his lead is more about the Tories being bad than him being good.

No, I can’t imagine people chanting “Oh Kier Starmer.” Mainly because he’s a serious politician in charge of an electable left wing party and not worshipped like a cultish figure.
