My personal take on Kinoite, as staged by the Ublue team, has received a significant update to align it with the latest developments. You'll be using a signed docker container before you know it ;-) Read about it (and try!) at https://github.com/thesaigoneer-kinoite/thesaigoneer-kinoite/blob/live/README.md
Alright, I think I was wrong. It appears that it is not possible to have #fedora #kinoite and Windows 11 available on the same system. Installing one will break the other, even when installed on separate drives, on a UEFI system. Anaconda also appears to be unable to add Windows to GRUB. I rarely use Windows now. Maybe once every three months. Yet still, I occasionally use it. This makes Kinoite a non-starter, as much as I like it. Maybe some day I'll be able to join the immutable wave. #Linux
It's been a bit over a week since downloading #Fedora #Kinoite with #KDE #Plasma. This is now my fourth (?) time trying to switch to Plasma, and I think this time it will stick. I enjoyed using #gnome and have a lot of respect for the project, but I'm finding that my goals are being much better accomplished in Plasma. I think the key that made this attempt successful was a commitment to being humble and being open to growth.
#GNOME #plasma #KDE #Kinoite #Fedora
I vote for #Kinoite instead:

Or if you want extra goodness out of the box, give #universalblue a try:

Kinoite-Main-Latest if not on Nvidia.
Out of box Ublu has RPM fusion goodness for Fedora mesa drivers and codecs and Hardware acceleration enabled without much fussing at all.
My install of #fedora #kinoite did not detect a Windows installation installed on a different disk from my kinoite installation. I’m not sure how to get it to appear in grub. Normally I would use the steps detailed here (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/grub2-bootloader/#_adding_other_operating_systems_to_the_grub2_menu) in the Fedora documentation to fix this issue. This isn’t possible in kinoite, though, because I use a UEFI system and there’s no DNF. Anyone know how to fix this?
Are you making a video or a podcast about Fedora Silverblue, Kinoite, Sericea, Onyx, IoT or CoreOS ? Feel free to reach out on the Fedora discussion forum! We can help you figure out issues or answer questions you may have with those "new" variants.
If you prefer, you can also reach out directly to me. You might also want to reach out to @jorge (Universal Blue) or @sfalken (openSUSE MicroOS, Aeon, Kalpa).

#Fedora 39 has branched and we've got the #Kinoite compose to prove it!

I've posted the transcript of my talk at Akademy 2023: https://tim.siosm.fr/blog/2023/08/11/testing-latest-kde-kinoite/
This is the result of a multi-year effort by a lot of folks in the KDE and Fedora communities to make testing KDE software easier for our users.

Updated and running my own Kinoite-Saigon again. An immutable Fedora spin, made by myself, based on the Universal Blue project. So much fun! Read more here: https://github.com/kinoite-saigon/kinoite-saigon/blob/live/README.md

Anyone interested in checking out the cloud based image OSs of #Silverblue #Kinoite & #Sericea:
Also consider checking out Universal Blue #uBlue
Can even simply rebase:
https://universal-blue.org/images/
A reminder it's not a Distribution. More like a reimplantation/tweaking of Fedora with extra batteries.
Can even make your own image and share with friends/family!!

Easy way to use #nvidia on #fedora
Checkout #distrobox as well!

@datalinkdroid Once a Windows Insider update even overwrote the GRUB bootloader in my case
Reinstalling GRUB is not that hard though, unless you are using an immutable system, my GRUB once corrupted under #Kinoite and I have no idea how to reinstall it, all usual methods didn't work
I've written a post about how to setup libvirt on rpm-ostree systems (Fedora Silverblue, Kinoite, Sericea, Onyx, CoreOS) to get a more reasonable set of overlayed packages: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/overlaying-libvirt-on-silverblue-kinoite-sericea-onyx-and-coreos/86312
Feedback and help to improve the situation welcomed!

@ray_gay I vote ☁️ based Fedora + #Ublue
Take #silverblue
https://fedoraproject.org/silverblue/
or #Kinoite
https://fedoraproject.org/kinoite/
or #sericea

and rebase to:

Embrace Flatpaks. Enjoy immutable life. It was actually #SteamDeck that led me to:

Also people can try exporting apps in distrobox too 🤯

I use a few Debian apt programs and Arch AUR programs myself on #Kinoite #ublue
Do we need telemetry? What would it be used for? What kind of useful and non-personal data could we gather?
To try to answer those questions, I wrote a list of examples where telemetry would have been useful for Fedora CoreOS, Silverblue or Kinoite systems: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/what-data-will-be-collected-exactly-a-breakout-topic-for-the-f40-change-request-on-privacy-preserving-telemetry-for-fedora-workstation/85417/47

I'll be giving a talk at #Akademy2023 on Sunday afternoon on how we are making KDE Plasma and Apps testing accessible to non-developers, thanks to Flatpak and Kinoite: https://conf.kde.org/event/5/contributions/138/
I'm also attending the conference remotely so feel free to reach out to me on Matrix if you want to chat with me about #KDE, #Fedora, #Kinoite or #Flatpak.

@jppelt @GotNothing @fatboy I hate to say it, but the closest thing we'll get anytime soon is #chromeOS.
and any gnu distro that hypothetically gets traction mainstream is probably going to look more like chromeOS anyway, #immutable like Fedora #silverblue / #kinoite or even #SteamOS
