This is an excerpt of "Kira's Tabla Solo", a new choreography I started creating while Kira still was alive. I had to finish it the week after her dead because a student of mine had hired me to create her a new drum solo to dance at a special occasion. A cheerful joyous drum solo of all means! Couldn't let her down. So I kept dancing. Now this drum solo will forever remind me of my cat ❤️ Kira and how she had accompanied me so many times while creating dances! #KiraTravelcat #CatsOfMastodon

Since then, not a day has gone by that I haven't noticed a cat's shadow, seen the tip of a tail sticking out from under the dresser, or heard a meow. Small signs that her energy will continue to accompany me and that Kira will always be alive in my heart! #KiraTravelcat #CatsOfMastodon

The next day we dug her grave on the property; it was very hard work, absolutely solemn and wholesome. Shortly before dawn I brought Kira's body to the grave site and we lovingly buried her between loamy, black earth and gray slate rock in the enchanting landscape of Karanovac. Unimaginable grief. I carefully lifted the lifeless cat's body onto my lap and - later holding her close to my chest - I said goodbye to the physical presence of my "Schnurrefeinchen". I was already kneeling on the tile floor next to the towel Gladdis had pushed our cat onto after realizing she wanted to stay in the bathroom at all costs. I immediately sensed that she was about to say goodbye, bent over her, caressing her soft fur, and asked her please, please, please stay with us a little longer. In the meantime, my teaching unit was coming to an end and exactly at the moment when I wanted to start chatting a little with my participants after dancing, Kira raised her voice one last time and, according to Gladdis, called me. I am in deep sorrow:
On January 10th, Kira, our beloved cat, my companion for more than 20 years, passed away.
Suddenly and unexpected.
And much, yes, much much too soon.

It was a Tuesday when I got up early to teach my morning class via Zoom. Kira had stayed in bed with Gladdis, which was unusual as she always followed me as soon as I got up.

Today we're leaving Ljublana to visit friends in Prestanek. Kira doesn't like to be moved like this but she's totally ok with a train ride and a stay with us at a nice new place. #KiraTravelcat #Travelcat #CatsOfMastodon

We're really happy that she's more and more relaxed during our travels. This time we even made new friends because of #KiraTravelcat!

Just arrived in #Ljubljana (instead of Zagreb!) after a long train ride. The video shows #KiraTravelcat next level completely relaxed and me eating peanut butter - my all time travel favourite - with a spoon. We'll visit the embassy there in case of a expired passport ...

Now we will - Inshallah - spend the winter near #BanjaLuka. Didn't want to go to Sarajevo, where, according to Arijana, the air in winter is almost unbearable due to the unorthodox heating methods. Besides, I'm traveling with #KiraTravelcat, who loves to go outside!
