On reflection, I found the SH a mite depressing (though I do like the writing and stand in awe of Tartt's ability to build tension). I feel a need for Something Completely Different.

Hit me with your recs. Does anyone have a favourite pick-me-up read?

I need something mysterious / thrilling but somehow hopeful, not cynical. Weird or sci-fi themes much appreciated. For comparison, I've enjoyed:

@Wildlyng I just finished up a first time read of #GeekLove and starting up #KlaraAndTheSun. I found a first edition of one of the discworld books last weekend for $8 so excited to jump back in to Pratchett too.
