Exploring #barrowmaze solo tonight! I customized a solo rule-set just for Megadungeon exploration. A combo of:

Running a #MörkBorg adventure on the #rolegate app as an experiment. RG is great or running casual pbp-ish games. I feel like RG will work well for casual games with streamlined OSR systems (#Knave, #Shadowdark, MB). The free account features are impressive but not perfect. There’s no map feature/no images. MB doesn’t need battlemaps, but most systems do. Nbd, create a discord server for your game and use a simple map tool like Mipui (link below).

Played a dungeon crawl based on #Knave 2e mechanics last night with the local pub group. Just not sure how into #osr I am, or at least in this context (in terms of both dungeon crawling &/or as a pub session). Or maybe it was because I was playing & not running - am I too used to being GM? Still had a good giggle with 3 new players who turned up for their first time.

Ran a game of #Knave tonight over on the Raspy Raven discord. Awesome fun.

Slaying all but one of the dragon's broodlings the adventurers ended the evening in a mighty battle with the disgusting corpse coloured dragon. A pact with a dark god led to a berserker attack with a critical hit dealing much damage to the wyrm. Bareback dragon riding and sniper attacks from the dark slowly whittled the dragons life away.

Read #Mausritter. I don't know why I hadn't before, it seems great, I knew it was a bit #IntoTheOdd and a bit #Knave but it goes so freaking hard on both of those things. Like if you want to play ito you should probably be playing mausritter unless you absolutely want to play ito instead, same for knave

Is it cute? Just a bit. But it's much more lethal and, in a sense, terrifying than the games that make up it's DNA

And I think it could be so absurdist. I want to play it

I do #worldbuiding with a focus away from Good/Evil and more on incompatible world views. A lot of time spent on magic as fantasy physics and its consequences.

I run a lot of #Knave and steal inspiration from the #OSR. I enjoy #Ryuutama but don't play it much. I consider #Pathfinder2e to be an acceptable if a bit complicated game. I enjoy #ChroniclesOfDarkness. I use a lot of narrative ideas but I'm not overly fond of Fate or Genesys (but I do own them.)

Due to lack of joined up thinking I am running 4 games in a row this week.

Tuesday: Traveller Pirates of Drinax

Wednesday: Traveller Secrets of the Ancients

Thursday: Savage World Deadlands

Friday: Knave (Maw of the Mountain)

I'm thinking using something more aligned to #cairn or #knave using a set amount of slots
in addition each player can hold up to x amount of coins without using any slot but if you want to carry more you need to equip something like a backpack, sack, etc which offer different amount of additional coins.
You might only be able to carry one backpack but multiple belt pouches at the time. Thinking like a hard cap fully packed of maybe 4k coins you can carry total despite having more slots available

#ttrpg If you wanted to expand on backgrounds, paths, & careers in games like #Cairn #MazeRats or #Knave with some ancestry/heritage options, how would you do it? I’m thinking something similar to all of the above. It provides some advantage or minor modifier in situations where being an “elf” or a “dwarf” would be helpful? I might be over thinking this?

I like the tri-fold trend of crunchier games towards “Ancenstry, Background, Class” (thank you, pathfinder). That, but lighter, less verbose?

TTRPGs I want to run (as soon as the baby allows 😅).
