From a 2010 Freakonomics segment, "How is a bad radio station like our public school system".

This is an interesting classification, though it omits a few models / modes that I can think of:

• 1:1 tutoring. This is often given as a "gold standard" of instruction methods.
• Mentoring. Often a jr./sr. pairing in a work environment.
• Coaching --- usually for physical actions / performance arts.
• Possibly dividing independent study into both theory (book larning) and practical (experimental / practice).
