#Dragonlance …but ONLY for nostalgic reasons. We were kids with #Krynn Postermaps above our beds, reading through the #ADnD2E players guide until our eyes burnt (and thereby learned English terms for super obscure polearms), cried because of Sturm Brightblade (Solamniaaaaa…!!!), and modeled PCs after Raistlin, the original edgelord. Alas, I made the grave mistake to listen into a Dragonlance Audiobook a few years ago… 🫣

Is there consensus as to the best #DnD sourcebook for #Krynn /the #Dragonlance setting? I'm a little worried about diving into the lore now because I suspect there will be some soft changes to canon in the latest publication, but the new adventure coming out seems cool and I'd like to get my feet under me before trying to DM that world.

@Role_Play_Chat Many of my favorites (#bladesinthedark or #VampireTheMasquerade for example) have strongly baked in lore /setting. For some reason, more general systems like #GURPS never grabbed me the same way. On the other side, #dnd #5e is a more generalist system that has been both frequently homebrewed as well as tied into lore such as #greyhawk, #forgottenrealms, #planescape, #krynn, etc.

@Mjack I’m considering whether I could make the case that #Krynn / #DragonLance also helped this trend along, w/ the differentiation of subgroups (Gully Dorfs v Hill Dwarfs) & bringing more monstrous species (minotaurs, hobgoblins) in to playable scope. Scrubbing at of not entirely removing the onus of racist alignment.

I don’t think it’s a strong case, it’s still steeped in racism.
