World Heritage temple #Daikakuji in Saga-Arashiyama in northwest #Kyoto. The #temple and its pond were the palace grounds of #Emperor #Saga, who, like the T'ang Dynasty Emperors in the early 9th Century (a time of far higher #culture than today), was a pious patron of Buddhism, and of the great saint Kūkai who contributed so much to the golden age of #Heian Period Japan. My forthcoming paper related to #Kukai was by request of a university in #Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh (where the Dalai Lama and his fellow exiles live). Meanwhile, my research on #Kukai, #Esoteric #Buddhism, #Asian #religions, #religious #syncretism, and other topics about #Japan is available at https://japanned.h commons.org/japanology or https://wilmina.academia.edu/SteveMcCarty/Japan
