"Scientists have warned the frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall is increasing across East #Asia as the human-caused #ClimateCrisis accelerates the probability of #ExtremeWeather events.
"The newest round of heavy rains in South Korea come just days after devastating floods wreaked havoc in neighboring #Japan, killing at least six people and injuring 19.
"Torrential rain in southwestern Japan prompted the country’s weather agency to issue emergency warnings at the start of the week for the #Fukuoka and #Oita prefectures, on #Kyushu, the country’s third largest island.
"Earlier this month, heavy downpours also caused flooding in southwest #China, killing at least 15 people in the city of #Chongqing."

Here's a little #Geography lesson about #Japan. Japan has four main islands:
#Kyushu - This island is heavily populated, and it is home to the city of Nagasaki.
#Shikoku - This island is the smallest of the four islands.
#Honshu - This is the most heavily populated island and it is home to the city of Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
#Hokkaido - This island is not heavily populated due to it's more rough terrain and harsh climate.

Kaimondake, or Mount Kaimon, rests in southern Kyushu on the Satsuma Peninsula. The iconic volcano attracts a lot of admirers with its appealing shape that draws comparisons to Mount Fuji. In fact, Kaimondake is also called “Satsuma Fuji” for its resemblance.
Despite the similarities, Kaimondake is much easier to climb, so hikers can enjoy views of Kagoshima from its peak with relative ease.
